Atrocities committed against Pakistan's minority group are frequently reported in the news. A new event from Pakistan has been added to the list of events.
A 32-year-old Hindu woman was placed in a potentially fatal predicament when the personnel of a rural health centre in Pakistan's Sindh region amputated a newborn baby's head and left it inside the mother's womb.
The Bheel Hindu woman first visited a Rural Health Centre (RHC) in her neighbourhood but there was no female gynaecologist there. She is from a remote community in the Tharparkar district. In a bungled procedure performed on Sunday, the RHC staff severed the unborn baby's head in the mother's womb and left it within her.
The woman was brought to a local hospital in Mithi where there were no facilities to treat her when she was in a life-threatening scenario. Eventually, she was rushed to the LUMHS by her family, where the rest of the newborn's body was extracted from the mother's womb, saving her life. Apparently, some staff members used a phone to take images of her in the genecology ward and then shared those photos with other WhatsApp groups.
It has been presented as merely an instance of medical carelessness by the tightly censored and restricted Pakistani media. Even several well-known left news outlets in India, like NDTV, have portrayed it as a case of medical negligence.
It is unclear how sharing an explicit photo of a Hindu woman during childbirth in excruciating agony to different WhatsApp groups be considered a medical misconduct.
The medical staff there are wise enough to cover their mothers, sisters and wives inside burqa but while sharing picture of a Hindu woman they become inexperienced and unprofessional medical staff.
